Tierra del Fuego is the home of the RIO GRANDE, world famous for the biggest river run trout in the world.
Other rivers and stillwaters in the region offer superb fishing during our winter months, December through to April

Some fishing beats are expensive, and others require no more than a rod licence.
There is a Trout Festival in February.

FISHING TRIP OF A LIFE TIME

My Friend Dan is a profesional guide who lives in Rio Grande city, and he has put these programmes together for any one wishing to go to Tierra Del Fuego to fish during the season December through to March. Flights to Buenos Aires are no more than £800, you may be lucky ana get one for £600, the flight to Rió Grande is extra, usually £80 return. Programme A 7 days and 6 nights with 5 full fishing days

Day 1:

• Meet you at Rio Grande airport, transfer to the lake Fagnano area and our lodge in a Refugio on the south shore in time for dinner. (Alternative accommodation is available).

Day 2, 3 and 4:

• Full fishing days on North & South shores of Lake Fagnano, and its feeder streams. Lake Fagnano is a huge inland sea, and while the trout are not as big as the Rio Grande trout an average bag can be of 6 pound trout. There will be one night under canvas, which is necessary to access the remote area. Full equipment is provided. Then two nights in the Refugio. On the fourth day we transfer to Río Grande City for dinner and lodgings in a 3 star Hotel;

Day 5 and 6:

• Full Fishing days. Early in the morning we transfer to the Rio Grande river to fish all day, lunch at the river, and return to the hotel for dinner;

Day 7:

• Breakfast and transfer to Río Grande Airport for departure. End of our services.

Programme B 8 days and 7 nights with 6 full fishing days

Day 1:

• Meet you at Rio Grande airport, transfer to the lake Fagnano area and our lodge in a Refugio on the south shore in time for dinner.

Day 2 and 3:

• Full fishing days on North & South shores of lake Fagnano , and its feeder streams. Again one night will be under canvass and one night in the refugio. In the evening of the third day we transfer to Yakush camp for a second night under canvass, and dinner.

Day 4 and 5:

• Fishing at Yakush lake, Claro river and tributaries with a third night camping.

Day 6 and 7:

• Full Fishing days. Early in the morning transfer to Rio Grande river to fish all day, lunch at the river, return to hotel at the end of the day for dinner.

Day 8:

• Breakfast and transfer to Rio Grande Airport to departure. End of our services.

Argentina 2006 / 07 Fishing Season

Lodging Alternatives:

• For those anglers who prefer lodging in a Hotel in the Fagnano area will incur an extra cost (See our prices for optional lodging). The Yakush area is remote, for that reason we have to camp.

The fishing beats:

• Fagnano area: It´s a big and rich fishery with Lake Brown Trout, Rainbow, Brook trout and some times Enclosed Salmon (Salmo Salar sebago); 3 to 6 pounds are common for brownies and Rainbows, sometimes we will find bigger fish. Brook trout and Enclosed Salmon are common between 2 to 5 pounds. Usually we hope to land an average of 4 to 6 fish per angler day.

• Yakush area: It´s a small lake with plenty of lake brown trout and big brook trout; 3 to 6 pounds is average for brownies and 2 to 5 pounds for brook trout. An average of 6 to 8 fish per day per angler is common.

• Claro river: This river was closed to fishing by the provincial Government during the last 6 years, for that reason, we expect that next season could be open again for all fishermen. If not our itinerary can be changed for more fishing on Yakush and its tributaries Prior to closing this river 6 years ago it held a good stock of resident browns and fantastic lake run brownies to 12lbs, with an average bag of 5 fish per day.

• Rio Grande: The world famous river known for its sea run brown trout and resident browns. We will expect the biggest fish for each angler here, and we would hope for an average of 12 to 14 pound fish and two to three fish per angler day.

The Services include:

• All transfers to the Fisheries and the City, and transfers too and from the airport by 4X4 and 4X2 pick up tucks. Boats and equipment are included, as are all meals (Full board) with wine, beer or lemonade; Lodging in a 3 star hotel, refuge or camping depends on your chosen program. Fly fishing and/or Spinning guide will depend on your chosen program. Quads or ATV to transfer in and out of the Yakush area.Complete camping equipment based on a shared tent (two anglers per tent), airbed and individual sleeping bag.

Not included :

• Items of a personal nature, flight tickets; personal insurance;, gratuities; Government fishing licences; Strong Drinks; Lodgings or meals out of our chosen program; Access fares for Rio Grande river.

Conditions to reserve:

• We require a deposit of 50% of the total amount to reserve our services, this amount is not refundable, final payment 60 days before start program.

Fagnano Lake is subject to the weather conditions. We suggest see our info for clothing, tackle, flies or lures. Please, if you have any special health problem, let us know so we can to help you in any circumstances.
