ESTHWAITE WATER 2007 OPEN PAIRS FINAL - RESULTS.

Tough conditions prevailed on the 2007 Shakespeare sponsored Esthwaite Water Open Pairs final day , with strong winds and bright sunshine. Fish were holding very deep, however this made for a thrilling climax to the competition. In total 24 anglers weighed in 66 fish for a total weight of 129lb 12oz, including time bonuses. In second place weighing in 11 fish for 22lb 14oz was Ross Saunders and Glen Moody.

The winners Alistair Beaumont and Dave Morris deserved to take the title weighing in 12 fish for a total weight of 26lb 11oz including time bonuses. The top two pairs shared £1800 worth of prizes, which consisted of cash, season tickets and fishing tackle!

A trion fly rod was won by Bob Swann with the heaviest fish of the competition weighing in at 6lb 8oz.

A.A.P.G.A.I instructor, senior assessor and local angler Lee Cummins conducted a superb presentation to round off another cracking final!

An open pairs boat competition fished as a series of heats, throughout the season and culminating in the Open Pairs final in September.

Entry is open to all fly anglers.
The entry fee of £34.00 per person includes the cost of the fishing permit and boat with engine for the day.
Each heat will run from 10am until 5pm and both the heats and the final will be fished to international rules. The top two pairs from each heat go through to the open pairs final. Entry forms are available from the fishery.

Tackle Shop Invitation Day Trophy 2008
Each year we invite owners and managers of the fishing tackle shops in the North West region to participate in a competition. We have been doing this for the past 9 years as a way of thanking them for recommending us to their clients. The 2007 winners were The fishing Hut.
The 2008 tackle shop invitation day trophy will be held on Thursday 24th April.

Esthwaite Water Flyfishing Team

Sponsored by Masterline these Northern veterans represent the fishery at major national competitions throughout the country, such as the Fulling Mill International, Today's Flyfisher European Open and The North West loch Style Eliminator to name but a few.

Esthwaite Water is the teams' home water for practice and team building sessions. The facility has enabled the team to produce some outstanding results through out last season.
